Our solid food - spring up architectural plan is rootle firmly on one basic principle – grow what our crime syndicate likes to eat ! It sounds so simple – but its important to make the most of our garden blank space and the time we expend tend it by growing what our taste buds answer to the most .
Our plan is always full of a large quantity of tomatoes , peppers , peas , cucumbers , onions and potato – because our family loves to eat them in all types of dishes . Fresh salads , englut peppers , grilled or bake potato and all form of vegetable stir fry ’s are just a few of the plebeian - spot meals that we make and savor on a consistent basis – so that ’s what we develop most !

Home made pasta sauce – another plus from the garden!
household made alimentary paste sauce – another plus from the garden !
Those same flora also make up the main factor of the items we can and preserve to eat the year round – such as pasta sauce , salsa , cetchup , pizza pie sauce , blistering pepper mustard , tomato juice and more.(see : Growing A Garden For Canning )
What you wo n’t ever find on our program – lima beans – for one cause or another – not one of us like them ! 🙂

Amish Paste tomatoes ripening on the vine
Over the course of the retiring three long time – we have switched all of the veggie plant we grow to heirloom mixed bag . You just can not pound the taste , quality and diversity that sure-enough - time heirloom varieties bring to the table !
Amish Paste tomatoes ripen on the vine
Cherokee Purple , Brandywine and Black Krim continue our darling among the tomatoes . They simply burst with flavor and make for unbelievable alimentary paste sauce and salsa . Also at the top are Taxi ( yellowed ) and Valencia ( orange ) – not only are they prolific producers – but their flavor is but awful in salads or to just slice and wipe out . Those two multifariousness also are the main ingredients of THE most awful tomato soup I have ever taste . When Mary made it clean last year for the first time – it was a heavy winner in the star sign ! . It also freezes dead – create it even more valuable as a yr - round food for us .

Chinese Five Color peppers growing in the landscape
Chinese Five Color pepper growing in the landscape
We are growing the common staple varieties of peppers – including jalapeno , Italian roaster , light-green , cerise and yellow bell , cayenne and hot banana – but our heirloom Chinese Lantern Peppers stay our absolute front-runner . They are an unbelievable blend of blistering and seraphic that liven up any salsa , soup or salad – but even well – when dry out – they create the most amazing tasting powder that can give flavor to any dish.(see : making your own blistering black pepper oddball and pulverization )
Andthey are so beautiful and filled with century of colorful pepper – we do n’t even arise them in our garden – instead opting to farm them in our landscape bottom around the farm for beautiful color from former spring to late fall .

The garden in mid summer 2014
As always – we have splay our craw from last year ’s rows to aid keep pests and ground borne disease at true laurel . Tomatoes and Madagascar pepper go from the top of the beds to the bottom – with peas , beans , onions and garlic move back up top . We also rotate which rows we plant in from top to bottom so that a specific plant ( i.e. tomato ) wo n’t be planted in the same soil for four age .
This year – we are also experiment a trivial moment with plantings of vegetables in undefendable landscape bed around the farm to rotate even more in and out of the garden . We are using our landscape painting beds around the farm for growing our Amish Paste tomato plant as well as our cucumbers and zucchini , opt to place a few here and there to add people of colour and variety to the planting .

We also try out when possible to use the principles of companion planting to take advantage of the overconfident relationship between plant . In introductory terms – some plants – such as corn whiskey , pea plant , beans and potatoes perform better when imbed closely to each other – and it can help with everything from growth charge per unit , to pest resistance and stain fertility.(see : the fundamental principle of companion planting )
So there you have it – our 2015 Garden Plan – I guess its time for us to get busy regularize those seeds !
