Terry’s Pool Shed Transformation

A beige pool shed gets a colorful makeover and transforms into a gorgeous poolside garden full of character

We ’re start the hebdomad off with a colorful garden translation in Northridge , California . Terry Sanders shared her flower - fill garden in SoCal earlier this year ( Terry ’s California Garden ) , but today we ’re looking at a specific garden labor that was completed this summer .

Terry had a perfect slur next to her consortium drop for a fabulous container garden , but the space needed a revamp to match her obvious love life for color .

Great bones , but not much else . The tiered shelf is a container gardeners dream , a bright blue pergola bring in some needed shade and a beautiful pop of color , and orotund containers of woody plant life make for a nifty foundation . However , the neutral color scheme and minimalist design is n’t bring much interest or personality to this corner of the garden .

Particularly for a gardener who sweep up whimsy and brilliant , fun colors . Terry ’s first step was film the pool cast off itself from a suave , beige background to a colorful cottage with year - cycle peak power .

Once the pool shed was embellish with graphic symbol and colour , the surrounding gardens come together . Terry ’s collection of container and gain of painted tile and photomosaic clash to make a blank space that looks lush , even though it ’s all surrounded by concrete .

Now the tiered shelf is the perfect spot for Terry ’s nerveless cacti ingathering , becoming a cohesive part of a corner full of interest rather than solitary plantings that are n’t connected to the rest of her garden .

Of course , it ’s not just cacti . Other containers play even more coloring with ‘ Superbissima ’ mix paint tongue ( Salpiglossissinuata‘Superbissima ’ , annual ) , as well as Dahlia pinnata and Dutch irises ( Iris hollandica‘Apollo ’ , Zones 6–9 ) planted in the little beds around the blue pergola .

Painted tile gave plain flowerpot some add interest , and a second door on the puddle shed got covered an incredible faux - stain looking glass upshot . I love Terry ’s maximalist intent , mixing and matching bright colour and divers pattern .

The added bonus of a container garden is that the pots can be statement piece by themselves . Whether it ’s a bright , beautiful color like the turquoise blue on the right , or something with lots of interesting detail like the pink and immature photomosaic on the rightfulness .

A closer look at the incredible painted tiles used to transform a once canonic manger - style plantation owner . It took me a couple of coup d’oeil before I noticed that Terry masterfully cope with some of the tiles with the coreopsis — I believe the variety Big Bang ™ red shift coreopsis ( Coreopsisx ‘ red shift ’ , Zones 5–9)—she plant at bottom .
