Just do n’t get them mixed up with “ Zantedeschia aethiopica ” lily – those are NOT edible .
Cannas enjoy heap of pee and can grow in refinement . I have a bunch on the compass north side of my sign and they ’ve flourish there with little care . They ’re also majuscule ina food forest .
To propagate , just chop into a clump and part off what you desire , then embed out elsewhere . The rhizotamaceous ( yeah , I think I made that parole up – litigate me ) roots will make a big lustrelessness over clock time . crop as you like and plant what you do n’t eat .

As they dry , the side will part and reveal shameful or brown seeded player that are about the sizing of buckshot . These seeds are REALLY hard and can apparently remain viable for centuries . They ’re supposed to be severe to start … but they ’re not , provided you do it right . Take a pair of nail clippers or a little file and make nips in the sides of the seeds . They ’re white inwardly – if you get to the white , you ’re doing fine . Then soak those mug in H2O for a day or two . They ’ll tumefy up if you move late enough with your nicking ( which is a chip knotty to do , since the cum coat are so darn firmly . ) The soak seeds germinate about a week or two after embed . ontogenesis is rapid and the baby plants can be planted out in a calendar month or two . I ’ve got them all over the place now , since a gal at the local ag extension knock down a bunch of seeds on me since they ’re “ too unvoiced for people to start and we do n’t retrieve we can sell them on our seeded player rack . ” Hee hee .
