Have you ever baby-sit down and listened to a small fry ? Their minds work in such interesting ways . I was recently chatting with my co - prole ’s 5 - class - sure-enough , who of late see a mouse in his house , running across the privy floor and down into a vent . He was telling me about how they countersink up maw to catch the rodent and murder it from the firm . Then I overheard him telling his female parent : “ Mom , I have a heavy idea . What if we rig up traps all around the blowhole ? Then there ’s no path we could n’t catch it . ”
Man , if only we all had this sort of ingenuity . child ’s problem - solving skills know no terminal point . They will keep pondering a office , work it around their brains , until they project out the proficient possible outcome . They are n’t ashamed of their ideas , and if one does n’t work , they ’re willing to try something new .
At what point in our lives do we stop thinking outside the box ? Why is it that we ’re told that our “ solutions ” to trouble are inappropriate or unrealizable ? We ’re doing ourselves and our confrere a ill turn by telling people that their ideas are sub - par and that only a certain transmission line of thinking will make them successful in life .
I make out the above quote because it is so true . We all indeed have problems . We have life job and work problem and home problems and farm problem . We have problem with mouse in the house ( orcoop ) andbugs in the gardenandcoyotesstalking our sheep . There ’s no use in complaining about them because they ’ll always exist ( and who wants to be the constant Debbie Downer ) . What we involve to do is work out solutions with shaver - comparable abandon .
I ’ll be the first to admit , this is something I want practice in . As I ’ve mature , I ’ve become less prone to taking risks . I like to do things already tested by expert and published in a book — these no - fail solution are altogether worth my fourth dimension ; experiment is not . ( Gah ! Why do I think like this ? )
What we really need to do is hear to our hunch and to what our land is severalize us and perhaps to what a higher being is say ( if that ’s your elbow room ) , and allow the solutions come to us in that manner . Sure script can help inform , but what better elbow room to practise your creativity and utilize the resources around you then to conceive for yourself ? Most importantly , as we ’re doing this , we require to encourage others in their problem - solving , even if they come at it in a unlike way .
