This beautiful seaside - cheer garden , shout out The Blue Greenhouse , was create by designersRose Blamey of Windrose Garden DesignandKimberley Loewen of Flourish Garden Design . I should n’t have been surprised that this garden was my instant favorite at theBC Home + Garden Show , because I have been long - time fans of their telling work .
The centrepiece of the garden is a greenish blue nursery fromBC Greenhousesthat would be any nurseryman ’s dream playroom . fill up with terracotta pots of spring bulbs , seedling , and succulent , it ’s no wonder I was drawn in so quickly .
Rose explain that the garden was inspired by a Gulf Islands retirement . This outdoor seaport was intelligibly made for someone who hump the harmony between sea and land . Fraser firs , paperbark maple , and westerly red cedar tree supply the natural background for a garden that would be fairly low-pitched maintenance on the west coast . Evergreen bush like Viburnum davidii and rhododendrons will look lovely all year and the chain of native ferns could cater enough fiddleheads to delight as a side stunner to newly - catch crab dinner .

take a footstep back , you could see the reclaimed Mrs. Henry Wood floorboards , fence , and garden edging that was hauled in for the show .
Hints of time of origin were seen throughout , such as this “ We ’re felicitous as Clams ” sign ,
wall art , and hired hand tools ; as well as throughout the garden sculptures : an bird of Minerva , weather web , and these flowered balls .

Despite the rust and unsophisticated elements , the design remained fresh due to the cheery orange and turquoise gloss pallette ,
creative seaside elements ,
and plant combination like this mixture of grasses , hellebores , and a Pinus contorta ‘ Spaan ’s Dwarf . ’ you may also see the Pinus strobus ‘ midget Curls ’ in the center pot that I fell in love with . The plants were provided byArt ’s Nursery , where you will be sure to find me very soon !

In such a small-scale space , I was pleased to see a few crafty DIYs like the planter table made from a large pot and a circular ice tabular array top ,
and , the pièce de résistance , this outdoor shower , complete with a river stone basinful and octopus towel hook .
The designer did a wonderful job of whisk me aside to a breezy seaside escape . I desire that I get to holiday on the Gulf Islands one day , as they have inspired a both vibrant and relaxing space .
