Twenty year ago , growers asked Bato Plastics for custom request for 20,000 grass , but nowadays we ’re talking much larger numbers . An ordination for 200,000 pots , clip or other customer - custom requests does n’t storm sales managing director Hans Luijkx and his teammates anymore .

That ’s why Bato is focussing extra on custom horticulture products nowadays . “ Growers are scaling up and become great enough to invest in a customer specific mould , used to injection cast their own products . This is done to solve a technological issue with the crop , to optimise growing or to give a production its own , distinctive identicalness . ”

Bato has made its own products for a foresightful time , and the party from Zevenbergen , the Netherlands , sells them across the whole world , via dealers . Customising has always been their strength , but especially in the past few years the focus on custom product has increase . The company also has its own Research & Development department , for three years now . Here , product technologist draw the whole intersection development ‘ from musical theme to terminate merchandise ’ .

The requests are very different . “ I do n’t really see a cherry-red line in them . It varies from grow questions , for which we find resolution together with the agriculturalist , to asking for a special sizing , shape or bid for substrate BIN or decorative pots for ornamentals . ”

Next to that , sustainability has an increase role in the instauration and development of gardening products . “ today we can render a large part of our products based on biobased and fully biodegradable material . Some of our merchandise are even compostable under the correct circumstances . The biggest challenge stay guaranteeing the same quality and lifespan , with less plastic . ”
