Maria Clemente and Paul Laganella expend much of their spare time working and loosen in the beautiful garden they have created at historic Smoke Rise , in northerly New Jersey .

" As our first year in our new rest home is coming to a close , we reckon back on all of the changes we have made to the gardens and the surprises we received along the way . natural spring convey us a flurry of rhododendron , mountainlaurel , and dogwoods as well as the great splashes of purpleness from the iris garden just outside our bedroom and the ocean of genus Ajuga facing our porch . Summer uphold to bring bursts of great foliage and color as well as an abundance of wildlife including the black bear , squash racquet , butterflies , and bee . Now that fall is here ; we are promise even more natural dish as the leaves begin to release to warmer hues .

Our place was one of the first custom builthomes backin the 1940 ’s in historical pot upgrade in northerly New Jersey .   We fell in dear with it the first moment we see it and have it away thatitssouthern exposure would contribute itself to ideal gardening electric potential .   Many of the perennial we plantedare cuttingsof plants from our previous home . The bee balm , which is one of our deary , was originally a small cutting from the gardens of the Adirondack bungalow we vacation at every year . On the north side of thehouse , we decide to use sick hues of purples , pink , and White withgrey - greenfoliage accents to compliment the grey spirit of the slating roof and terrace . For the south side of thehouse , we chose a pallet of more vibrant pink and reds with splash of yellow . "
