She ’s very lofty of this British Labour Party of love , and bask sharing the beauty she has created with others . Joanna and her husband purchase the property , located on a former strawberry mark field , about 15 years ago . She started out with a bare lot , little gardening experience , and a location beset by sandy soils and challenging climate conditions . Driven by her love and never - give - up attitude , she single - handedly metamorphose the land into a paradise of blooms .
After plant a few smorgasbord ofPhlox paniculata , Joanna set out to produce her own crossing seedlings and now has many dissimilar shadow of phlox in a umbrageous border in the garden .

Although Joanna has studied gardening , much of her garden noesis and aesthetic heart came from visiting gardens in England and reading myriad books on the subject . From there , her observational nature and addiction to detect Modern works sort took over . “ I have bought every variety and species of ornamental plant that I could discover in the nurseries in Poland . As is lawful for many gardeners , the biggest challenge for Joanna has been Mother Nature . “ In the wintertime , we typically have a lot of snow , and -20 degrees Celsius temperature . But sometimes it drops below -40 degrees Celsius without snow cover , and then the ground freezes to a depth of 1 meter ( more than 3 feet ) . Many plant specie die easy in such conditions . I lose many cosmetic bulbs every few age and flock of perennials . During spring , we often have frost around the heart of May , which kills many plants as well , ” she deplore .

During the summertime , her challenge is often too much rainfall — or the complete lack of it . “ Some years , we have moderate summer temperatures with sufficient rain . But other years are rottenly hot with terrible drought lasting many weeks , ” she says . Because her garden lie in a former riverbed of the Vistula , it is also prostrate to flooding if it rain down incessantly . “ I will sometimes suffer intact flora collections if the spirit level of water rises too in high spirits . ”
Because of these unpredictable condition , she favors plants that can outlive the regretful . “ I have test absolutely everything that one could buy in Polish nurseries . I have learned what works are tough and will stay strong and healthy . I am crazy about Hosta ( I have over 100 varieties ) and decorative grasses , which just recently became ‘ fashionable ’ in Poland . I sleep with echinaceas , specially the newer varieties in every shade of pink , red , and yellow . They survive Robert Lee Frost and very dry stipulation , ” she sound out .
