In a Vase on Monday. Autumn leaves.

In a puerility preferent rule book of mine,‘Anne of Green Gables’by L.M.Montgomery , Anne declared:‘I am soglad I live on in a world where there are Octobers ’ . I have to agree with her , October is a magical month . We have had crispy , cheery daytime and flowers which go on and on blooming , and tot to this the leaves are on fervidness with the most brilliant colours . Time to do an autumn vase to fete the beauty of the time of year .

As common , I put it in the birdbath for its exposure It is arranged in a browned earthenware jug .   Now it is indoors , it is   sit in large a copper color pot .

I am always proclaim the virtue of the   splendid Forest Pansy , Cercis canadensiswhich is a wonderful deep red all summertime and   has   now taken on the most awesome autumn tincture .   regrettably , it is quite unannealed and well damage by ungainly humanity with lawn mowers .   Alright , it is probably my fault , I did plant it too close to the sharpness   and I am in fact , very grateful to the man on the lawn mower . Particularly as he is so wary of outdoors . Anyway , I have now offer the bed so that accidents can be forfend in future . But as the two branch were broken ,   they were   crying out to be put in a vase . They are aglow where the light catch them .

The red leave-taking of Virginia tree creeper , Parthenocissus quinquefoliawere a great match . I hatePyracanthafor its viciousness and the way it snap up me whenever I walk by , but the orange berries are a delight . The downlike seed head ofClematis tanguticacreate a frothy effect .

For fall coloured flower I have used a late floweringKniphofia rooperi , two dahlias:’Nescio ’ and the adorable orange speciesDahlia coccineawhich has grown very tall . I used some yellow - bloom Heliopsis which is a very incursive , but useful for picking . There are a few marigolds and some sprays of my belovedAlcalthaea suffrutescens‘Park Allee ’ . This has now work up up to the size of a shrub and goes on and on blooming . I have sent off some rooted cutting to some of you . If I promise you some and have still not sent you one , please cue me . give thanks you Cathy atRamblingintheGarden . Everyone enjoys take part in this meme . If you have n’t joined in yet , all you have to do is find flowers from your garden and pour down them in a vase to share with us .

I could n’t agree more with Anne and oh how you have get October in your vase … those subtle oranges in flower and leafage are just magical !

This is a great originative autumn vase!Perfect combination of colours !

Oh such wise words from untried Anne . I bonk the subject matter of your vase Chloris , all except for the dread scandalmongering jeopardy which as you say is “ very invasive ” . I ’ve fought an unsuccesful battle for geezerhood to root out it . You have n’t promised me a cutting of that lovely alcalthaea suffrutescens ‘ Park Allee ’ but should you have one to spare either now or in the future I would be beguiled to be a recipient .

Very pretty . I ’d say autumn is in full glory in your garden , in your vase , and in this stake . All of a sudden it ’s fall here , too – apparently overnight !

I ’ve always loved October for the same reason – that geological fault in temperatures and the brittleness in the aviation . alas , Mother Nature appears to have us stuck in the heat of summertime in some twisted rendering of Bill Murray ’s “ Groundhog Day . ” Your vase is the very moving picture of what October should be .

A stunning celebration of the beauty of October !
