Gardening beautifully under trees

Welcome to Cherie Walda ’s tad garden .

My hubby and I live in Fort Wayne , Indiana . We go here in 1987 to an acre of demesne with maple , pine , ash , and hickory nut trees . Grass and flora reject to uprise among the maple Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree roots and shade . We then discovered hostas , and that began the addiction . Now over 300 different diverseness of Funka and perennials have come to live among us — or we have come to live among them . Recently my husband has include put forward beds to adapt more plants and to thwart the maple tree base .

Ten years ago we lost ash trees , so now we have more Lord’s Day , allow us to admit more varieties of Sunday - have intercourse plants .

include Funka in all textures — still , rippled , and corrugate — resulted in a fiesta for the eyes . The inquiry was how to get more gloss . What a working class of love to accomplish this end . I love cobalt blue , and I pick up blue wine bottles . Perfect ! Then after joining the Indianapolis Hosta Society , I was able to collaborate with other nicety garden fancier . With much inquiry , I discovered false hellebore ( favorite ) , Virginia bluebells , lambs ’ ears , bleeding heart , Pulmonaria , celandine poppies , Epimedium , batch bluet , jack in the pulpit , and more .

My favorite hostas include ‘ Sagae ’ , ‘ Elvis Lives ’ , ‘ Pineapple Upsidedown Cake ’ , ‘ Sun Power ’ , and ‘ gamey Angel ’ . Oh heck , I sleep together them all .

After 32 years of garden passion , I look forwards to the challenge of maintaining my garden as I grow old . Most of the plants are perennial , so natural spring is low sustentation and like Christmas in May . Adding some tropicals and flame nettle in pots adds vivacious color and allows me to move the plants around to the perfect spot .

After withdraw in 2017 , I joined the Trillium Garden Club in Fort Wayne . I have added howling garden friends to share my garden joyfulness and challenge .
