I did n’t get it on we ’d end up here . We had a plan . We forget the states for a tropic heaven , determine to spring up a wide range of tropical plants , experience a new culture , bought demesne and built ourselves a home .
Then came the pandemic and everything grow weird tight .
So weird that we returned to the states , intending to live in Florida again . On August 24th I took a carpenter’s plane with 7 of my children from Grenada to San Juan and stayed overnight at a dainty hotel near the drome . It was a ghost town . A big , beautiful place with very few people in it and a closed gym , closed swimming pool , and spooky hoi polloi in masks . The peeress at the front desk told me the occupancy was 10 % of usual .
We exhaust pizza that nighttime , then the next morning we got a van to the airport with a grandfatherly piece with a limp . We tap a luggage carrier wave to take us through all the security and lines , then got load up on a flight of steps to Miami .
Later that day – August 25th , 2020 – we were pick up at the airdrome by family . We were home .
It was a shocking change . And it was to get more interesting , as we could n’t secure a house to rent in Florida and ended up in Alabama alternatively through God ’s Providence .
And here we are . Tonight we will grill pork chop on our $ 20 Walmart grille and wassail punk champagne from Piggly Wiggly . We had plans , but God had other programme . And He has thrive us . We have dirt to farm , healthy kids , a baby on the way and good Quaker . I used to call May 3rd “ Freedom Day ” as it was the day we leave the states for fairer climate , but those climes turn tempestuous , so I shall now dub our riposte date “ Freedom Day . ” It ’s not the level of freedom we ’d like , but Alabama is a danged good situation to ride out tough times .
This last year has seen some large changes and there are more to come . We managed to sell our land at a loss down in the tropics , but we also had a salutary yr on YouTube with piles of new reader . We also started Good Books Publishing and finished the 2nd edition ofCreate Your Own Florida Food Forest . It should be out shortly , once the final text and layout are fill in . We also have new books coming from Steve Solomon and John Moody .
The gardens have been striking and have try out the efficaciousness of my method across multiple climates .
Today I releasedGrocery Row Gardeninginprint and ebookbecause it seemed a fitting escort to launch a book .
I ca n’t suppose of a better way to mark God ’s good work . It ’s been hard to get writing done with the doubt of the last match of years , plus move and being fix on clock time , but I am finally beget back in the groove .
And speaking of getting in the groove … it ’s fourth dimension to go fire up the grille .
