Looking back at some shady winners
This week we ’re going to do something a little unlike on the GPOD : We ’re going to be looking back over the year of garden we have divvy up and pull out some of our favorites to confabulate again . And today the post are all go to be stunningshade garden . Gardening in shade can palpate a bit like a challenge or limitation , but band of GPOD contributors have turn that challenge into an chance and made beautiful gardens .
This is Janet Best ’s garden in Spencerport , New York . It can be hard to get a lot of color in the shade , but she ’s do by combine lots of different foliage colors with pinkish blooms ofastilbeandhanging basketsfull ofbegonias . Pink flowers are repeated throughout the garden ( see more : Woodland Retreat ) , giving it a unagitated , co-ordinated design .
The next spectre garden , make by Stan Hobbs in Glenville , New York , takes divine guidance fromJapanese garden designto create a beautiful , relaxing space . The moss - report ground , so typical of Japanese gardens , is beautiful and really allows the eye to appreciate the beauty of each single plant .
